Installing and Upgrading
To help you get your QuickBooks product or service installed and working properly, we’ve created an online
Installation and Upgrade Center where you can find help fast. The Center provides step-by-step guidance for installing QuickBooks and handling issues associated with downloading or installing product updates. You can also find help there for converting a QuickBooks company file to the latest version.
Additionally, free personalized assistance from a trained QuickBooks expert is available when troubleshooting installation problems and addressing issues you encounter when:
- Downloading QuickBooks or installing from the CD
- Installing QuickBooks on one or multiple computers that meet published system requirements for the QuickBooks product
- Moving QuickBooks to a new computer
- Creating a new company file or converting one from another QuickBooks version or certain other products
- Upgrading or updating to a new version or edition of QuickBooks
This coverage applies for 12 months from the date of your initial product registration for all currently supported versions* of QuickBooks.

Free installation support is intended to assist customers who are having issues when installing the QuickBooks product, and does not include walking through the installation. Additionally, support fees will not be waived for general QuickBooks setup assistance.
Error Messages
For immediate help with a QuickBooks error message, our support site will make it easy to find your error. Support fees may be waived by a support professional for error messages in currently supported versions1 of the product in the following categories:
- Error messages that do not have a documented resolution on the QuickBooks support site
- Error messages that contain (-6000)
- Error messages that tell you to Contact Technical Support
Support fees will not be waived for warning messages or errors caused by interaction with your operating system.

Product Defects
The QuickBooks Support Website contains support articles for all known issues within a currently supported version1 of the program. Documented solutions are provided when available. In the unlikely event that you may have run across a new defect or "bug" in the product, fees may be waived by a support professional.
