QuickBooks and QuickBooks Pro 2000 for Windows
Product Updates

QuickBooks 2000 provides automatic background downloading of new product releases. When you are online, QuickBooks periodically checks to see if there is a new update available. If there is one, it is downloaded and will be installed the next time you exit QuickBooks.To learn how to start this process manually within QuickBooks, click here. If you experience problems with the automatic update, a manual update is available. The most current update is Release 8 (R8). For specific details about QuickBooks 2000 releases, see:

Check the current release of your QuickBooks program

With QuickBooks open, hold down the CTRL key and press the number 1 (CTRL+1). Use the number one key at the top of your keyboard rather than the one on the number pad to the right.

QuickBooks will display a Product Information window. The first line of the Product Informationwindow gives the QuickBooks product followed by the release. If it says R8, you already have the latest release.

Easiest method to update QuickBooks 2000
By default, QuickBooks 2000 will download the latest update any time you are online. You will be prompted to install the update upon exiting the program.

QuickBooks Update Service

1. Open QuickBooks, choose Update QuickBooks from the File menu, and then click Update. If you have not set up your Internet Connection to work with QuickBooks, click Configure and follow the instructions.

2. In the QuickBooks Update Service window, click Go Online.
3. The QuickBooks Update Status window displays and shows you what the Service is downloading. You may click Cancel at any time, but you will not receive all updates if you do so.
4. When your computer is finished, check the Updates Received section of the QuickBooks Update Service window for asterisks next to the updates received.

5. Exit QuickBooks and click Yes to install the update. We recommend that you restart your computer after the installation is complete.

Note: You must update QuickBooks each time the program is uninstalled and reinstalled.

If your QuickBooks computer does not have Internet access If the computer on which you installed QuickBooks 2000 does not have Internet access, please call (888) 320-7276, weekdays from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific time, to request the R8 update.
